Colon cruise port is located in a commercial port on the Atlantic side of the Panama Canal. It is from this port that you can visit the locks of Gatún lake or Miraflores and see the operations of the Panama Canal. Apart from the Panama Canal, the region does not offer many other points of interest except for the flora and fauna of the rainforest. Colon is a duty-free zone, which will appeal to shoppers.

Where is located the Port of Colon Cruise Terminal
Two docks accommodate cruise ships. The Colon 2000 is the most modern and is part of the tax free zone.
The Cristobal wharf is located nearby and an artisan market is close to it.

Excursions in Colon
Cruise line tours are probably the most convenient and safe option. In addition, many ships do not stay long in this port and stop mainly to disembark or board passengers for excursions.
It is not advisable to try to walk around this area on your own. There are not many tourist attractions in Colon. You can shop at the port. If you’d rather relax, you can enjoy a drink on the terrace of the Washington Hotel, which offers views of the mouth of the Canal. Colon Cathedral was built in honour of Christopher Columbus.

- Gatún Lake Locks: Locks are open to visitors from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every day of the week.
- You can now see the new locks. Some ships are beginning to use these locks for their cruises.
