On November 15, the Japanese government announced that it was ready to receive cruise ships again. This paves the way for cruise lines to resume their itinerary visiting Japan.

Holland America Line’s Westerdam will make several voyages in Japan in early 2023. The ship had been repositioned in Australia and New Zealand.

In January, the ship will be in dry dock in Singapore for maintenance and renovations. Thereafter, the Westerdam will make 11- to 14-day trips between Yokohama and Singapore. The ship will visit many ports in Japan, Taiwan, the Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia.

She will conclude her season in Asia on April 24 with a 14-day transpacific cruise that will take her to Seattle for her season in Alaska.

Protocols for cruises (vaccines, tests, masks) are being developed and will be confirmed to travelers before departure.
